The Mission of Bishop Street Recovery Ranch
Our Mission
Bishop Street Recovery Ranch is dedicated to transforming the lives of men battling addiction through the love and grace of Jesus Christ. Founded in October 2014 by Bryan Pilgrim, a former addict who found freedom in a jail cell through faith, our ministry has grown from humble beginnings to a vital beacon of hope in Knickerbocker, TX.
Our Journey
The ministry began in a modest two-bedroom house on Bishop Street, with Bryan welcoming the first four residents with just $50 in his pocket, a cell phone, and a rented house. Despite the lack of initial resources, the house was quickly furnished and stocked with food, a testament to divine provision and community support. By 2016, we had relocated to a 17.9-acre rural property, offering a more spacious environment for recovery and growth.
Our Facility
In August 2018, we moved to our current 15-acre location in Knickerbocker, TX. Our 6000-square-foot facility now houses up to 22 men, providing a structured, Bible-based transitional home approved for placement by probation, parole, and the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Recently, we completed the construction of a 24-bed bunkhouse, allowing men to stay for at least 120 days before transitioning back into the workforce. This facility includes full wheelchair access and offers each resident more space and comfort.
Our Program
At Bishop Street Recovery Ranch, we focus on holistic recovery, emphasizing spiritual growth, personal responsibility, and community integration. Daily Bible studies, individual counseling, and practical life skills training help men develop new behaviors and thought patterns. We introduce residents to a life free from substance dependence, encouraging them to participate in local church communities and give back to society.
Community Support and Impact
We are deeply grateful for the continuous support from our community and organizations like San Angelo Gives, which recently contributed $37,755.58 to our ministry. Events such as our annual Fallow Hunt Raffle and open houses further engage the community and raise essential funds. Our outreach includes visits from local schools, providing students with insights into the realities of addiction and the power of faith-based recovery.

Our commitment to growth and improvement is unwavering. We are excited about our upcoming open house on October 19, 2024, where we will showcase our facilities, share success stories, and connect with supporters. This event will include a guest speaker, an auction, and a raffle, highlighting the ongoing impact of Bishop Street Recovery Ranch.
