Description

The Church of St. Peter is located in Joppa (now Tel Aviv-Yafo) near the traditional site of the home of Simon the tanner. It was in this home that Peter had the vision of a great sheet descending from heaven filled with all kinds of animals. When told to kill and eat, Peter refused for he had never eaten anything unholy or unclean, But Peter was told , “WHAT GOD HAD CLEANSED NO LONGER CONSIDER UNHOLY.” Acts 10:15 NASB

After this Peter went to Caesarea (by the Sea) to the home of Cornelius, a centurion of the Italian cohort. It was here, for the first time, the Gospel was shared with the gentiles: we were grafted into the vine!

In a world of conflict, hurt, and hatred, we must never forget Peter’s words:

AND YET GOD HAS SHOWN ME THAT I SHOULD NOT CALL ANY MAN UNHOLY OR UNCLEAN … I MOST CERTAINLY UNDERSTAND NOW THAT GOD IS NOT ONE TO SHOW PARTIALITY. Acts 10:28,34 NASB
